Today we’d like to introduce you to Ana Diaz.
Thanks for sharing your story with us Ana. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
I was born in Venezuela, since I was a kid, my most important tool it’s my imagination, it makes me create powerful and symbolic art, I grew up on theater surrounded by musicians, opera singers, dancers, always learning and watching, like absorbing everything, accumulating as much information as I can, then, years later, I started developing skill on musical theater, singing, dancing and acting. I was too obsessed with Marcel Marceau and Charles Chaplin that I started doing pantomime film, filming myself, I created a lot of monologues and pantomime performance that after one year, I started performing my own shows I felt so powerful that I had to create a name for my pantomime character which was Lunetta and then people start recognized me by the name of Luna, which is still my artistic name.
When I moved here, I tried to go the same page as I was in Venezuela, but was so hard for me to keep doing it, that I started feeling afraid of that, and I left myself for an entire year, looking for something that might inspire me, I thought it was my culture which allowed me to develop my skill as a pantomime artist, and once I moved here, I needed something else which allow me to represents my feelings, so I started playing piano, singing on talents shows, painting whatever I feel, meeting people, because people inspired me, looking for something that may help me get on my path again, so I discovered a new sensation and way of showing my art, a way to represent what I have on my mind and showing my perspective, I started documenting people’s life, and taking picture, daring to communicate with different personalities.
I combined my point of view as a pantomime Artist with film, doing real-life facts in an abstract and experimental way, filming myself and others and creating a huge contrast on both. Because I know that my biggest inspiration is the people, the stories, the meaning of life for each person, people’s perspective, people’s inner worlds.
I decided to study film because I want to show people perspective through my point of view, creating abstract and symbolic films, mixing what I know and what I learning right now, getting inspired by friends, family, people and life.
Right now, what inspired me the most is life itself. That’s my path, that’s my new way, to represent from the most beautiful experience to the worse experience in life.
Has it been a smooth road?
My struggles it’s not be inspired.
Sometimes, I’m just a looker. When that happens, I can’t create anything, can’t show anything, ideas on my head but nothing can be shown, then when that information it’s processing It feels like anything inspires you, and I feel that I’m losing my time, my energy, my knowledge, but it’s okay, it’s a process of creation, the last steps, it’s the explosion of ideas, that’s when I start creating, once I absorbed, I can let go through art.
So, I think that’s my biggest struggle in life is the middle of a creative explosion, because I feel confused and lost, but in the end, I know a big bang is coming.
What do you do, what do you specialize in, what are you known for, etc. What are you most proud of? What sets you apart from others?
I combine my art, I mix everything, creating abstract and symbolic art, my goal it’s to feel free with what I’m doing, keeping my romantic style.
I want intellectual art, I’m also a very romantic artist, I think it’s pretty natural on me, I love sensuality, I love details, the expressions of every part of a body, emotions, feelings. I represent sensuality symbolism in my art.
I’m still working on my art company which for now, it’s my mind and me, but I want my business as a sanctuary of creativity, where people new consciousness creates the world by throwing messages through art.
I think what sets me apart from other people is my way of communicating my feelings, and that’s a point when I working with a team creating ideas.
Let’s touch on your thoughts about our city – what do you like the most and least?
Been here, it shows me a lot, I learn every day, I get inspired every day, I think what I love the most is to meet people, the underground place which hides a lot of stories, the culture which is very fresh, people’s art and mind, and of course, the opportunity that you have been here showing what you love.
What I like least are the places where people don’t show respect for you because the way you look or the way they think you are, keeping a mind looked.
