Today we’d like to introduce you to Alicia Shapira.
Alicia, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
My name is Alicia Shapira, and my entire business is built on the trust and referrals of every person with whom I’ve had the pleasure of working within the last few years, I have performed many different procedures, and I am always expanding to offer new and innovative services for my clients. I have spent countless hours researching and perfecting my techniques!
I encourage anyone interested in permanent makeup, tattoo removal, microblading and Brazilian stretch mark camouflage to contact me with any questions! I love what I do and am very fortunate to be able to work at this fabulous art every day. You will find that my college education, my training in paramedical micro pigmentation and my artistic abilities will make you comfortable with your decision to choose me as your professional paramedical permanent makeup artist.
New image beauty bar is the result of my obsession with beauty and perfection. As the leading microblading/permanent makeup studio in Florida, and the first artist in the USA to offer and train Brazilian stretch mark camouflage and scar treatment, and under-eye camouflage, I offer the absolute best to my amazing clients. My intense attention to every detail and my dedication in providing the absolute best customer service are just two of the reasons for my success. At my studio, I never stop learning and educating myself on the latest and greatest in the cosmetic tattoo industry so that you always get the best of everything out there always!
Now a little history about my love for this career path. My interest in permanent makeup started many years ago when I first heard that this was an option. I always have loved makeup and the beauty industry, so I thought this was a perfect match for my new career venture. I have always been one to play around daily with makeup and shop for the newest and greatest products. On a daily basis, I can’t leave the house without eyeliner and gloss. This is definitely a recipe for a smeared disaster, or as others would say, “a cat eye,” when combined with an active lifestyle like mine, especially now as a new mom to my son. My decision years back to get permanent eyeliner changed my life, and I became fascinated with the industry. I knew that since I loved my permanent eyeliner so much, this was something that many people could benefit from as well.
I was a full-time speech pathologist/cognitive trainer with two of my very own schools that I owned and operated with many employees. I enjoyed every minute with all my patients at the time but really wanted to change my career. Everyone thought I was insane to make such a drastic change after all my education and extensive training, but it was something that I just kept dreaming of, they say you change your career at least three times in your life. The thought to have to go back to school for another year or so and start over was very scary but so very exciting. Once I graduated esthetician school, and permanent makeup/paramedical school, I knew I was ready to start doing permanent makeup and open my own business immediately. I knew when I put that permanent makeup pen to my first client’s face, I had made the right decision and followed one of my passions. I have never looked back since and feel beyond thankful for the support my family gave me during this transition.
I decided early on in my career to offer my services at a fair price so that this was an option for everyone and not a luxury service that only celebrities enjoyed. I also decided to offer financing through an online program. I made the decision early on to work with many foundations and offer services to men and women who have battled cancer at no charge. I want to be sure my clients get exactly what they want every time, so I take my time with each and every one of them. I here most often I feel like I have known you forever! This has been an extremely exciting and positive career change, and I could not be happier today!
Has it been a smooth road?
Of course, it is never a smooth road to decide one day you are going to completely switch careers and just go for it! It was tough, working full time, then going back to school full time, training my brain to think “permanent makeup” instead of speech therapy. But I had the love and support from all of my family and my husband, and it helped push me to the end to finish and now I have no regrets because I ended up making my own private studio a successful business!
In this industry, it is rare to find someone you can look up to that will help you for more than 30 days after taking their classes, and I had no mentors to sort of guide me through processes, I just kept learning and doing on my own. I am proud to say through my extensive years of training that I am certified to be a master educator in all of my offered procedures, and any student who takes my class has a lifetime support system guarantee! I would never want my students to feel helpless like I went through years ago.
Please tell us more about your work. What do you do? What do you specialize in? What sets you apart from competition?
I specialize in all of the following procedures: microblading, permanent upper and lower eyeliner, hair stroke eyebrows, shading eyebrows, permanent lip liner & lip blushing, hair simulation for men and women, Brazilian stretch mark and scar camouflage, lift tattoo removal, collagen induction therapy (cit), dry tattooing, surgical scar softening, breast areola tattooing (3d-areola repigmentation), makeup services, dermaplaning, lash lift and tint, Brazilian under eye camouflage, vitamin glow treatment, BB glow facial treatment, fibroblast treatment, hyaluron pen injections for the face, lips.
The one procedure I am most proud of would have to be the Brazilian stretch mark and scar camouflage tattoo. This differs from the standard American technique, and I was the first artist to learn directly from the creator himself, Rodolfo Torres from Brazil, and practice and teach here in the USA. I believe my passion for perfection and my constant want for knowledge and growth sets me apart from others. I always feel the need to keep up with the times and learn the latest and greatest of procedures to help people feel beautiful and confident.
Is our city a good place to do what you do?
Yes, I feel like south Florida is a great place to have a business, especially in the beauty industry. I would recommend our city to any new business owner with a start-up, but do your research! Most markets are becoming saturated down here and you can’t turn the corner without seeing a business in the same industry as you these days! I’ve grown up in South Florida and it’s grown so much over the years! tӶM8
