So, before we jump into specific questions about the business, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story. I worked for 15 years in corporate America in the finance and engineering industries. When I was in college, I knew then that I wanted to run my own business one day. After my stint in corporate America, I started and ran several businesses over the last 12 years. Some succeeded, some did not. I am always looking for innovative ideas and opportunities that allow me to grow and develop personally and that contribute in a positive way to the local community.
I came across and invested in MY SALON Suite, a salon suite franchise, about three and a half years ago. Its business model fit my experience, background, goals and personal aspirations. The MY SALON Suite concept complements my business experience in real estate investment, development and management that I have developed over the last 12 years.
Has it been a smooth road? Life is never a smooth road, whether it’s personal or business related. One of the struggles as an entrepreneur is how many hats you wear on a daily basis. Anything that goes wrong is ultimately on you to fix and make better. It’s both challenging and rewarding at the same time. Many times, you are thrust into situations and issues that you had never anticipated, which require you to learn and develop skills that you did not know you needed. It’s one of many aspects that makes entrepreneurship challenging, but also exciting and fun. I am always learning new things.
We’d love to hear more about your business. My Salon Suite is a salon suite concept that is transforming the industry. The brand has made a name for itself in major markets throughout the US and Canada for being the only salon suite concept to offer fully-equipped, upscale suites featuring a style station with a full-length mirror, cabinets and styling chair, a shampoo station, a color station with its own sink and plenty of cabinet storage throughout. Additional amenities include a state-of-the-art security and intercom system, luxurious bathrooms, laundry room, and an elegant lobby area for visitors. Guests who visit MY SALON Suite are treated to the latest hair, spa and related beauty services.
Our complex in Coral Gables is a large space divided into private suites that have a lockable sliding glass door. Each suite has a dedicated parking space in the building. Several suites have floor to ceiling exterior windows.
We rent the suites to individual beauty professionals that we refer to as members. The beauty professionals run their business the way that best suits them. We support our members’ business by providing them assistance in establishing their business, professional and business training opportunities, client scheduling and management software, and beauty product sales opportunities.
Access to our complex is 24/7, which allows scheduling working days and hours that are most convenient for the beauty professional and their clients. We provide common area maintenance and cleaning. We also provide maintenance services for the individual suites. All utilities are included in the rental charge including electricity, water, and Wi-Fi.
I am most proud that our members and their clients love the concept. It’s very convenient for them. Visitors have a multitude of beauty professionals all under one roof. Our spa and hair styling professionals like the community environment that we’ve created. They love working in their own business.
Most of our members were at a commission-based traditional salon before coming to us. They choose to leave the traditional salon work environment to take control of their future, keep more of the money they make, have greater flexibility in their lives, focus their efforts on their clients, and further develop their creativity and skills.
Some of our members were salons owners. Rents have sky-rocketed over the last few years and some salon owners have decided to move to MY SALON Suite of Coral Gables to take the headache out of running a salon, paying bills, hiring and managing employees, and instead focus 100% of running their business and making it more successful.
I’ve enjoyed working with entrepreneurs who have flair and want to be on their own. It has been a journey with them that is rewarding.

Coral Gables and Miami are great cities that are sought out by many people for their restaurants, services, entertainment, shopping and quality of life. You find people that live and visit from all around the world. They are truly world cities. The downside is that traffic is getting bad all around the metro area. It’s one of the consequences of living in a very desirable city like Miami and the surrounding communities.
