Meet Abo Omachonu of Vintex Quality Care in South Miami

Today we’d like to introduce you to Abo Omachonu.

So, before we jump into specific questions about the business, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
Originally, my business started off as a consulting firm to assist small business owners. As time passed, I realized that Florida had a large senior population that was in need of home care services. In 1991, I decided to start a Home Health Agency in Miami-Dade County to service this very deserving community. I started in a small office and one staff member.

My background in business administration afforded me the insight to be pragmatic and very resourceful in the day-to-day operations of the business. I partnered with healthcare professionals with over 30 years of experience, who became part of my team. Together, we have been able to meet the needs of our clients and develop a healthcare plan that will improve or sustain their overall well-being.

For me, having a business degree was not enough. To better serve my clients and have a more hands-on experience, I decided to enroll in nursing school. I obtained a Bachelor’s in Nursing Degree (BSN) from the University of Miami in Florida.

Today, after over 25 years of business, I am proud to say that we have expanded our agency to service clients in Broward and Monroe Counties with a network of over 100 dedicated and compassionate caregivers.

Here’s to another 25 years!

Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
It has been a very complex business to run, yet very rewarding. Getting referrals was a struggle at the beginning. The degree of complexity and acuity remains a constant battle. Each case varies. Matching the right caregiver to client can be challenging at times, especially when there is a culture clash.

Often times, there are family feuds that interfere with the over-all care of our clients. Having an intermediary such as a case manager or guardian, makes the process a lot smoother.

Please tell us about Vintex Quality Care, Inc.
Vintex Quality Care is a home health agency. We assist families in providing home health care to their loved ones, while keeping them in the comfort of their own homes.

What sets us apart from other agencies is that we go above and beyond to meet or exceed our client’s expectations. There is never a time when you call our office and you cannot reach anyone; even after hours. We are available 24/7/365 days a year. We are known to handle/resolve difficult cases. Our turnaround time for staffing is very quick (within a few hours). We are known to tackle cases that other agencies shy away from.

Our clients trust us because we have proven to be reliable and dependable. Most of our referrals are from past clients who are satisfied with our services.

If you had to go back in time and start over, would you have done anything differently?
Thinking back now, I would have branched out into other counties sooner. Also, I would have accredited the agency. Doing so, would have afforded us more opportunities to service clients who cannot pay for services out of pocket.
