Life and Work with Yvette Aguilera

Today we’d like to introduce you to Yvette Aguilera.

Yvette, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
Since I was a child, I’ve loved how food brought people together. Growing up, I loved watching my Cuban grandmother in the kitchen whipping up the best food! All of this rubbed off on me and as a result I developed a love for great food and the kitchen. After years of photographing my food and showing others, I realized I needed to create a food blog! I wanted others to see the places I explore and the things I love to eat. Not only do I post on restaurant cuisine but also I post my own recipes as well on my website! I felt sharing these recipes would transport others to my kitchen and show them a glimpse of my upbringing.

We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc. – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
Of course, with any adventure, there are many bumps in the road. For me, the struggles have been a few. I’ve been juggling a full-time job, spending a lot of cash dining, trying to find time to go out, edit and post on Instagram and my website but, if you really love what you are doing, you WILL get there! Even if it takes time, you will arrive. Nothing worth achieving comes easy!

So, as you know, we’re impressed with Guavette – tell our readers more, for example, what you’re most proud of as a company and what sets you apart from others.
I love to expose good food to others. So, what better way to do so than by photographing the food and drinks I consume at restaurants and Coffee shops. I think it’s awesome to share the love of food with others and guide others to a good meal or drink! I also share my personal recipes from my Cuban upbringing because I love my culture and the way our food brings family and friends together. Food is my passion and my goal is to transmit that!

Who have you been inspired by?
My inspirations have been my grandmother, mother, and sister! My grandmother was the thread that kept our family together. She was always hosting and cooking! Always being selfless and attentive, making sure that all that she knew left her home with a full belly and a full heart! My mother is an amazing woman! She has struggled as a single mother to raise my sister and I all while keeping it together. Always full of love and strength, I appreciate her sacrifices immensely! My sister is the ULTIMATE girl boss! She is a hardworking superstar Mom! I admire her resilience to do it all while raising her amazing children. She has taught me the art of working hard and crushing my goals! These women are amazing and their influence has definitely molded my character and I couldn’t be prouder!
