Life & Work with Gisele Labate

Today we’d like to introduce you to Gisele Labate.

Hi Gisele, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
I always had a passion for sweets. I used to bake and cook with my grandmother. In the past, me and my husband used to sell homemade food to the Brazilian employees at work. Everyone loved it, and then I started to sell desserts too.

When I was a child, I’ve always had talent for arts. I did drawing and canvas classes, and I used to say that art runs in my veins. LOL.

Custom cake was love at first sight; all the art involved has captivated me.

When my daughter was born, I decided to dedicate my time to the cake business.

I did a very basic custom cake class, and I started selling cakes from home. I also used to sell sweets at the Las Olas Sunday Market.

Year by year I started getting busier and busier, so my husband Cristiano Angelucci decided to quit his job and started working with me.

When my whole house was packed with all the baking tools and supplies, we decided to open a store.

We’ve opened our store in the beginning of the pandemic.

We passed all the inspections and had all the licenses ready by March 2020, and then COVID hit. So, we had no other option than open the store and see what happens. We had so many customers from before that when they found out that we’ve opened a store, they all came to support us. We are very blessed, we made it! And I am very proud that two and a half years later we are still open.

Me and my husband also participate on a cake competition on Netflix called Sugar Rush. It was back in 2019. Season 2. episode Made with Love.

Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I am a baker and a caker (lol). I make desserts and sweets, and I’m known for my wonderfully delicious cakes. My recipes set me apart from the croud, and my rule is, Taste the Difference!

What do you like best about our city? What do you like least?
What I like the most, is this vibrant atmosphere found here. A positive and energetic city, that bonds all the elements of a great lifestyle. Whatever you name it, most likely you can do in our city.
