Life and Work with Sheer Goshen

Today we’d like to introduce you to Sheer Goshen.

Sheer, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
Last year, I use to work in Sales all around the country. I moved to Miami in October 2017 and I didn’t really have the chance to enjoy it since I traveled so much. Living on suitcases was pretty hard and I decided I can’t do it anymore and I want a job in Miami. That’s when I met my old business partner in Santa Fe, NM, he was actually the one with the idea of opening this type of business, balloons arrangement for any kind of celebration. This was actually a very funny story, one minute after he brought up with this idea, I had my best friend calling me from Israel, she sounded very upset over the phone saying that her boyfriend ordered her a balloon arrangement to her house in Israel, and the girls that came to decorate were all over the place and left her house dirty from balloons confetti. That’s when I decided to go for it and to do it in the most professional way I can.

Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Opening a new business is never easy. During these last 10 months, I had to deal with so many obstacles, breaking up with my old business partner and leaving my old job in Sales. If there is one thing that kept me on my feet, is the belief I have in myself. At the end of the day, if you keep on believing in yourself and you have a supportive family and friends, you can deal with any obstacle. And we have to stay patient, remember that Rome wasn’t built in a day.

It takes time to build an empire.

Please tell us about Balloons 4 you.
What I really love about my business, that it’s different. There is a lot of balloons decorations companies in the Miami area, but no one does what I do.
I specialize in personalizing your balloons to the point that you can even have your picture printed on the balloon! With a high end detailed graphic design. On top of it, the arrangement its for any kind of celebrations, Birthday, Bachelorette party, Honeymoons, Graduation, etc.
What I most proud of my business, it’s the fact that in such a small period of time, we got to so many people in Miami and put our name out there in a way I couldn’t even dream of. The record was when I got to decorate JLo’s house for her birthday, Winnie Harlow 25th birthday and decorating the set for Indulge Miami Magazine for Nathalie Cadet-James, a Luxury event planner.

There’s a wealth of academic research that suggests that a lack of mentors and networking opportunities for women has materially affected the number of women in leadership roles. Smart organizations and industry leaders are working to change this, but in the meantime, do you have any advice for finding a mentor and building a network?
What worked for me with marketing was finding influencers on social media. Those days you can approach anyone through Ig and Facebook.
And you will never believe how corporates they can be if you just try.
Even if you don’t get any response, keep on trying. Networking is always important, just put yourself out there and get out of your comfort zone, talk about your business at any chance, you never know where is your next opportunity.
