Today we’d like to introduce you to Alana Millman.
Thanks for sharing your story with us Alana. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
As an 18-year-old University of Miami student, I would have never guessed that I’d be walking down Collins Avenue and see a truck drive by that I designed.
Today, at 26, I am one year into opening my own company, serving as the in-house graphic designer for the Miami Beach Chamber of Commerce and Carma Connected among many other diverse clients throughout South Florida. Through these various outlets, I’ve had the opportunity to work with brands like Cristal, South Beach Seafood Festival, Britto Central, Prime One Twelve, and many more.
For just under a decade, I have been immersed in every avenue of the creative marketing industry. My roots are in public relations, although these days my path has taken the turn towards graphic design. Starting out as an account executive and falling in love with the fast-paced world of PR, I couldn’t shake the fact that art has always been a part of my soul. Through my design career, I’ve been able to use my creative eye along with my knowledge of marketing and outreach to create a beautiful design with a purpose.
It’s no coincidence that the majority of my clients are in the food and beverage world, the restaurant gene runs in my family. I went from being an avid diner to creating the menu! I never thought I’d be able to sit in a restaurant and see that every single visual element was something I created. I feel so thankful for every opportunity this city has given me.
I treat each client as if it was my own business. Their success is my success.
Has it been a smooth road?
While I have been blessed with support from my friends and family, no business is easy. I dealt with everything from seasonal market blues, to crazy client conundrums- but if I could give any advice to young women (my young self-included), it is to just have faith in your vision.
So, as you know, we’re impressed with AM Consulting Services – tell our readers more, for example, what you’re most proud of as a company and what sets you apart from others.
A term has been created among my clients: “Alana-fy it.” I am an expert at knowing where to add a little extra sparkle, polish or pizzaz.
As a brand, I’m most proud of my versatility – my days consist of wearing many different hats, from in-office computer time and fabulous foodie events to long nights for both me and my Adobe Suite. What sets me apart is my genuine care for my clients. When I become part of an organization, I treat them like family. Reliability is a critical value for me as a professional.
Are there any apps, books, podcasts or other resources that you’ve benefited from using?
Definitely! I am an avid content creator and content consumer. I make it a priority to keep up with current events, industry developments, and all relevant happenings – also serving unofficially as the newscaster supreme to many of my friends.
Some specific favorites include Time and Smithsonian Magazine, TimeOut Miami, Miami New Times, and NPR (specifically Hidden Brain, The Moth, and This American Life). They keep me current! Special shout out to my Apple News App. My favorite book of all time is Stranger in a Strange Land.
