Today we’d like to introduce you to Sofia Gravagna. Her and her team share their story with us below:
Sofia Gravagna is a Nutrition and Peak Performance Health Coach, who helps female entrepreneurs, and their teams optimize their health and increase performance through various personalized Wellness Programs.
She spent her entire life eating from her grandparent’s farm and garden in Romania, guided by her father, a professional athlete, and her mother, a gastronomy lover. “My journey began the moment I started to travel throughout the United States in 2013. It was then that I realized I was lucky to have a healthy upbringing.
Over a period of 4 months across the U.S, I accumulated an exhausting schedule; working two jobs all while searching for the proper balance of finding quality grade food and the right time to eat. I felt bloated, constantly craving foods foreign to my natural diet, had unpredictable mood swings, and found myself 20 pounds heavier.
I knew I had to make a change and this ignited my passion for nutrition. My curiosity about my physical and mental changes peaked while I was in college and I discovered a correlation to my consumption choices. I dove into the American culture, food & health system, and developed a passion for helping others achieve a healthier lifestyle.
I became self-educated and applied everything I learned to myself. Fast forward, after moving to New York and having graduated as a Nutrition Health Coach from the Institute for Integrative Nutrition, I was able to attain my degree to professionally guide you with my proven life-changing habits.
My experience led me to a career in the Health and Wellness industry, with the ability to professionally assist you in setting goals and taking action towards your health journey and your desired life.”
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Some of the struggles I faced were related to culture and the language barrier.
Having moved to New York without knowing a single soul and creating a life for myself at 22 years old was a challenge in itself. All I had was my courage, an open heart, and a great dose of ambition. I did not have a road map or someone to guide me so it was all about figuring it out on my own.
I definitely encountered more challenges than I thought when I started my small coaching business in 2017, but I am grateful for each of them.

Where we are in life is often partly because of others. Who/what else deserves credit for how your story turned out?
I am very grateful to my clients from whom I learned a lot along the way and who motivated me to become better after every session. I want to thank Functional Medicine Dr. Alexis Gopal and Dr. Sireen Gopal for trusting me to lead their Nutrition Programs and coach their patients, and for also being great mentors to me.
I would like to thank my dear friend and mentor Ella Davar who is actually a Miami Registered Dietitian, for always supporting me.
Lastly, I want to thank my husband, Christopher Gravagna, for his support and for being my ideal client – a serial entrepreneur who was never taking breaks or prioritized his health, because he was too busy building multiple companies and showing up for his teams every single day. That meant taking calls on weekends or vacations as well.
Guiding him to prioritize his own health, change his mindset and learn how to incorporate movement and more family time in his life was the most challenging. It took about 3 years of constant education, cooking healthy meals, and promoting physical activities and mindfulness, and it eventually paid off!
Not only is he the best version of himself I have seen so far, but our relationship has improved and his businesses are thriving. It all works out if you just make the decision to try.
