Exploring Life & Business with Dr. Rhonda Trust of Trust Healthy Living

Today we’d like to introduce you to Dr. Rhonda Trust.

Hi Dr. Trust, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
Dr. Rhonda Trust is ready to inform, educate and enlighten you about the lifestyle of healthy eating. She is a passionate health and wellness coach located in sunny South Florida!

She is extremely knowledgeable and qualified, holding many degrees. She completed the certificate in Healthy Living and Nutrition from Cornell University.

Additionally, she earned a Doctorate degree in Health Communication from the University of Connecticut, a Master’s of Communication from Florida Atlantic University, and a bachelor’s in Communication from Bridgewater State University.

Dr. Trust is educated and passionate about preaching health and wellness! She is currently on the path to becoming a registered dietitian. She’s originally from Boston but has lived in California, and Connecticut before relocating back to sunny South Florida.

As a college professor for the past 20 years, Dr. Trust is a natural educator and is excited to guide others in the direction of healthy living and nutrition. As a lover of learning, she has always been interested in the connection between natural foods, lifestyle choices, and health. In addition to her university degrees, she studied at the Self-Heal School of Herbal Medicine in San Diego, CA.

While earning her doctorate degree in Connecticut from 2004-2011 she worked as a researcher for the Centers for Disease Control grant where she conducted scholarly research on the topic of health communication. Most recently completed the certificate from Cornell University. She has a natural approach to health and wellness.

While she services all individuals, she previously focused on women’s health. She owned a women’s health education business where she was a certified lactation educator and a birth coach (doula).

Now she is ready to help anyone interested in healthy eating and nutrition!

I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey has been a fairly smooth road?
One struggle has always been trying to market me.

I am a natural communicator, but I am not pushy when it comes to self-marketing and sales, even though I have great credentials and lots of amazing packages to offer to my clients!

We’ve been impressed with Trust Healthy Living, but for folks who might not be as familiar, what can you share with them about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
I specialize in helping my clients create a healthy eating and living plan that works for them… not a “one size fits all” package, but a customized package with a plethora of options.

I have done transformative sessions in my clients’ homes where we investigate each food label (A 2-hour investigation into my client’s kitchen cupboard, refrigerator, and freezer). This can be done virtually or in person. I explore the food items, analyze the labels and make a plan to replace items with healthier options.

At the conclusion of this session, a detailed grocery list is provided to my clients with an option for me to assist them in the grocery store as they select healthy food.

My most popular packages are the personalized food coaching for individuals and/or small groups (i.e. family members) staged in a multiple-week experience. Within this plan, my clients have many options to select from. After an initial consultation with me, we decide which options will help them reach their health and wellness goals.

Ultimately, at the conclusion of this program, my clients will have the self-trust, efficacy, and confidence to continue with their new healthy lifestyle change.

I also speak at events! I have been teaching health communication and public speaking at the college and university level for over twenty years and I use those public speaking skills outside of the classroom too!

I present the topics of conscious Eating and Healthy Choices for a Busy Lifestyle to small groups, universities, corporations, and businesses.

I truly feel that keeping employees healthy is key! When you have a healthy organization this means less sick time taken for employees, overall physical and mental health for the company, and overall employee satisfaction. When organizations empower employees, they also empower their health!

As you can see I offer health and wellness packages from the individual to large group level. I also offer many different price points to accommodate the budget. I do a whole workshop on how to eat clean and healthy on a budget, which is possible!

The main goal of Trust Healthy Living is to teach people how to eat healthily and make it realistic for them to maintain a lifestyle of healthy eating and wellness.

Do you have any advice for those looking to network or find a mentor?
Thanks to social media, I’ve reached out to several national and international professionals in the area of nutrition such as Registered Dietitians, Chiropractors, Naturopathic Physicians, & Health and Fitness coaches.

Everyone I’ve contacted has responded back to me and answered my questions. I’ve been fortunate that this health and wellness community has been so responsive and helpful.

I’ve also engaged in community events in South Florida involving health, wellness, and fitness which has been a great space for in-person networking.

I always ask questions and I am willing to learn more from others, I think that really helps when finding a mentor–the willingness to always learn more!
