Hi Uri, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory
I moved to Miami about ten years ago from a suburb next to Tel Aviv in Israel. I come from a very creative and artistic family. My mother is an actress and artist with her own gallery, my father is a lighting desiner turned writer and had several booked and scrips published. I came to obtain a Bachelors in Business as the none artistic side of the family and to invest some family funds in the real estate industry post 2008 crash as well. I started buying single family house and duplexes with my partner Doron. Renovating tear-downs and flipping them. Some of the houses were in such bad shape that they had squatters living there with no power or running water or termites and other ‘visitors’. After succeeding in that we made a jump into land development. Building townhouses in Fort Lauderdale and some land entitlement work. My side was the marketing as I always enjoyed that side of the business. I focused on selling our developments and listings. About Six months ago my new partners and I started a real estate team in Miami Beach called The Deco Group. We focus on selling luxury condos and waterfront properties around Miami/Miami Beach area. We are a young driven team that is hungry to take over this town by storm (Or by sun in the case of Florida). As much as real estate is my passion. I also enjoy meeting new people, play the guitar and my new found hobby Kiteboarding. The wind and ocean at your feet is an amazing experience. I and keep Israel close to my heart. All of my close family live in Israel and moving here to achieve a degree and an experience was not easy. I centrally did not plan on being here this long but life leads you in different paths and I try to go with the flow. I am lucky to be surrounded by such great loving people here and back home. BTW- Another hubby of mine is Hummus. Yea an Israeli that like hummus what a surprise. I dream of opening my own hummus place but I fear I will eat it all before the clients will get a chance to try it. That’s me in a nut shell.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as relatively smooth road?
There biggest challenge was leaving my family. I miss them dearly especially my late grandmother that I didn’t get a chance to say goodbye.
Great, so let’s talk business. Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I started a real estate team in Miami Beach called The Deco Group. We focus on selling luxury condos and waterfront properties around Miami/Miami Beach area. We are a young driven team that is hungry to take over this town by storm (Or by sun in the case of Florida). As much as real estate is my passion. We work night and day meeting new people and getting one listing after the other. One thing I like most is that everyone of us is helping the other. Each one brings something else to the table. We have an Israeli Chutzpah to get our clients the best opportunities out there and not be afraid to knock on any door or approach any person. Some people are shy approaching a multi milliner and pitching him an investment. We are not.
How do you define success?
To me success is best defined in your happiness. If what you do in life makes you happy then you are successful in my eyes. to me success is not defined by your bank account. Some people can have lots of money but be unhappy. What’s the point of it if you hate where you are or what you do? We love what we do and it feels right. Because we love what we do and the people we work with then we are successful and happy.
