Daily Inspiration: Meet Justine Sinclair

Today we’d like to introduce you to Justine Sinclair

Hi Justine, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
I was looking for the work which I can do at home as a single mom because I want to be there for my daughter when she needs me. I planned to make an app as a talent agency, but it changed a little bit as a dreamer’s app and agency. There are a few stories behind it. When I was young, people asked me what your dream is, we used to answer; I want to be a doctor, be a teacher, be a fight fighter, be a pilot and be an actor…… My daughter’s dream used to be a writer. One day, she decided to be a Youtuber or an influencer. She thinks it is a more realistic dream in these days. I asked her why can’t she be both. I suggested to be a lawyer or an accountant so that the job is secure. She told me that they will work for me when I am famous. Why should I do that? Second story is, When I am in the school carline, my girl is coming out with friends with their phone watching, I asked her Why don’t you talk your friends? Did you fight? Her answer, we text, instead of talking. We cannot curtail their social media habits. It is our reality. When we go to Thanksgiving dinner or any functions, how many people actually do not check their phone. My daughter doesn’t want to give a hug and kisses when she goes to the bed. But she always texted me XOXO 😘 😇in tech language. If I want to be close to my girl, I have to adopt their style to communicate because she can respond better. Other stories include bullying. We have experienced it. I try to help her, but this world is so broken. I have to change the society first before I help her so that she can understand better. When I hear a beauty pageant contestant say, ” world peace,” when they were asked about their dreams, I used to laugh.

But now, I understand. Our world NEEDS peace. Our society teaches us to bully each other, and we are beginning to see the effect. When I look at my daughter’s generation, I can see how much our societal pressures and norms have altered their lifestyles. They are suffering. The amounts of children and teen being diagnosed with anxiety and depression, attempting suicide, and committing suicide is on the rise every day. Social media has allowed the bullying to creep into our homes and alter our children. The massages from the media and social media, as well as the use of social media, must change. I want to help my daughter fight back against life, and become a strong, confident woman. But right now, I can’t. Not until I do something to change the outside world first, so that her generation has better tools and a better chance to navigate/understand the world around them. So, I jumped in. I created a unique way to support generation Z: social media entertainment company: dreamOway. Why social media? Because that is how we communicate with each other in our reality. dreamOway is an authentic way to build a community for dreamers: our younger generation. Those dreamers that need cheer, support, and challenge. dreamOway is two folds: a television show and an App to show off your talents! Our dreamOway team is comprised of many mentors to cheer on and guide dreamers through their journey success. We can listen to their ideas, give advice, and support each other. My mission is to build a community that respect and support each other.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Definitely it is tough challenge as a single working mom. Many bad side men tried to take advantage with their macho attitudes, and too many people are looking for the free ride and stealing my concepts. People think single mom cannot speak up, no brain and courage to challenge with them. Especially, my English is a second language and some accents…… they want to put me behind so that they can get all the credit. When I started 2018, I created a s a social crowdfunding, dreamers can get some support when they go to audition for trip or school. And I was looking for TV network to connect. It took almost year to find out that TV show cannot ask money. but give away. Many people take advantage with me. But I learned so many lessons by crazy bad experiences. I hope It cannot happen again.

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
I am a person who cannot make mind fast. But, when I say, It will. I am. I glad my choice of life right now. When I came this country to study at university, I dreamt to be an independent career woman who can have my own company to change this world in a better place. After I married, my dream changed. I thought, Cinderella story can be end of happiness.; a finding a prince. I didn’t know what my dream was after I said, ” I do”. I was so unhappy and didn’t know what happiness was. I thought that was my life. I must accept my destiny. Since I am my own person, I found my happiness and purpose in life. I will focus on working on dreamers to make their dream into reality. If I can help one person in positive way, that person can help other people and those people can help more people. This world will be better place for my daughter and her friends and my future grandchildren. I will be proud when my girl has a big smile with the feeling of happiness soon. Being a female CEO without English accents is very challenging. I have learned not be afraid. I am very good at handling a sense of humor when I am facing my Korean-English accent. Everyone can use humor once a while. Time goes on and they trust me because I do this with my sincere heart and know how to get the job done. What sets you apart from others??? HUMMMMM very dedicated strong personality who know how to deliver on time and do my best. Some people told me that it scares them because I seem too robotic!!??!

Risk taking is a topic that people have widely differing views on – we’d love to hear your thoughts.
This journey is my risk. I started my company by saving money. People told me that we should borrow the money or get funded or investors. My view was very different. If you cannot afford, don’t ask. If you know the risk, you risk yourself. If you have a doubt that you cannot pay back, don’t try. I do risk myself with my dream and belief.
