Hi David, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
I started out on an engineering track at a young age but shifted more towards music in my 20’s. I was asked to perform charity events since I was 11 and became involved in the ones I felt strongly about. Since 1995 I have been organizing events and am now the director of a NFP 501C3 that supports youth arts and more. My work as a musician has given me the opportunity to help so many worthy causes. It is very satisfying.
I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey have been a fairly smooth road?
My parents always stressed the arts but were aghast when I became a full-time artist. I refused the stigma of starving artist. However, I treat all of my “jobs” as art so it all fun.
Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
I am a composer/performer/artist. I compose music and perform (sometimes on the spot). I strive to be proficient in order to reflect in my music what is happening or needed in the moment for others and myself. I am known in some circles as a community leader/concert organizer but better known to the world at large as a finger style guitarist/teacher with a Latin flavor. What sets me apart maybe that I do not ever play the same thing the same way twice. I strive to make my performances inspired and unique events to touch people inside.
So maybe we end on discussing what matters most to you and why?
