Conversations with Uneak

Today we’d like to introduce you to Uneak.

Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
I go by the name Uneak and I started making music at the age of eight. I grew up in the industry being that my father was a producer. My father and mother separated and it took a toll on me which caused me to stop doing music for a while. I started playing basketball heavily and was traveling all over New York playing on different teams and tournaments. I was getting in trouble and just around the wrong people after all that happened with my family. My mother ended up sending me to Atlanta for a year to stay with my grandparents. I came back and went to high school in New York. I started to pick back up music my second year in college. when basketball was starting to slow down for me. It was like everything happened for a reason because as soon as I started rapping again things took off quick. I started doing shows before I even has actual songs out. I was getting booked at colleges all over the east coast. Since then, I just been grinding, working on my craft, and getting my name out there more and more. Before COVID broke out things were at an all time high for me. I had little labels talking to me and I had got on a gig for Netflix but then COVID came and all that vanished. The show was canceled and all the attention I was getting sort of faded away. Now I’m on the grind building things back up and just continuing to elevate.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
It definitely has not been a smooth road. I have came across a lot of people who I thought was there for me that disappeared when times got rough or tried to snake me on certain things. Had some family issues which also took a toll on me with my music and was finding a hard time balancing it. Then money hasn’t always been the best for me so trying to do it all on my own as an independent artist while being able to fund myself for everything has always been my biggest obstacle.

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
I am an artist from New York. I make music more specifically I rap but I love to tap into different genres while still keeping my craft. I am most proud of my elevation and progression. I have came a long way and anyone who been watching me since I started will tell you the same thing. I am unique and that is why I will always stand out. I don’t see me in anyone else. I am in my own lane and I have a style that is suitable to all ears.

Alright, so to wrap up, is there anything else you’d like to share with us?
I am dropping an EP the end of May 2022 so be on the lookout.
