Conversations with Carlito Black

Today we’d like to introduce you to Carlito Black.

Hi Carlito, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
Born of Jamaican and Dominican descent raised in Opa Locka/Carol City, I grew up in poverty like all the other bastards in my neighborhood. Pursuing a career in football was my way up. A series of events created a downward spiral landing me on my passion for music. From the early death of the woman that raised me, my aunt, who I refer to as my mother. To the murder of my life-long childhood best friend in the same year. Losing my scholarship from a season-ending injury and being homeless led me to convert a hobby into a hustle. Rapping has been the start of a maturation process into a one-man army. I developed into a songwriter, producer, and music executive forming my own independent imprint “Blueprint Music Group”. Similar to Nipsey Hussle and the Crenshaw brand. I am creating a movement out of the communities that create what I am and stand for. My business ranges from music production to fashion, management, and event coordination. Murda Gardens is my brand. Murda Gardens is the voice of the current mindset bridging Carol City and Miami Gardens. I am the soldier on the frontline of this wave of culture and art. My business collaborates with many local businesses that are staples in our community to preserve authentic Miami history and empower the economics in our streets. All of my struggles are the inspiration to inspire others that look like me that come from these circumstances and survive. I am an exceptional talent and unorthodox innovator.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
