Conversations with Camila Toro

Today we’d like to introduce you to Camila Toro.

Hi Camila, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
It all started in Colombia, my natal country, with some stickers of smiley faces that my grandfather gave me when I was ten years old. He told me: “so you can give to others.”

Since then, everywhere I went I had my stickers of smiley faces and I gave them to people. My stickers have accompanied me in all the important moments in my life such as birthdays, graduation, wedding, travels.

In all these years, I have given more than 100,000 smiley faces stickers to my family, friends and strangers (and counting). I realized the power that this symbol of Happiness has but also the daily struggle that so many people have in the “pursuit of Happiness.”

For some years now, since I live in Miami- Florida, I have dedicated myself to study Happiness as a science, what makes people truly happy and understand how from my own passion, I can help them with practical tools on that happy path that life is.

When I became a mom, I realized what an important piece today’s children’s education is missing. According to science, 50% of our happiness comes from our genes, 10% from life’s circumstances and the remaining 40% from learned behaviors like our thoughts and choices and this large percentage is in OUR CONTROL!

I believe this 40% is where education plays a fundamental role, if we as parents educate ourselves with tools, strategies and if we manage to positively change our habits; we can also educate our children with a positive view of life.

My mission is to transform together the way in which the next generations perceive happiness giving them products that helps with their mindset, positivism and emotional intelligence.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Being an entrepreneur is one of the best things that has ever happened to me. It makes me completely happy to work every day for a dream of mine such as HAPPY CAMI. However, it has not been an easy or glamorous path. I’ve had moments of a lot of self-doubt, where I’ve wondered if this is really what I’m supposed to do. I have realized the importance of surrounding yourself with people who support you, guide you and above all give you that boost when you need it because being an entrepreneur sometimes feels very lonely.

Mindset plays a fundamental role, having mentors, reading personal growth books and always listening to things that help you train your mind to think positive, to help you stay focused; I did not know that before starting on this path, now it is my law.

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?

My mission has always been share and inspires happiness. However, it was after I became a mom in 2019 when I realized what an important piece today’s children’s education is missing. I want to help parents so we can all together transform the next generations with a positive view of life.

Do you have any memories from childhood that you can share with us?
I remember in my childhood, one day I was doing my homework and I started muttering: “what a fool I am, what an idiot I am” because I was not able to do something in my homework. My mom told me: “don’t repeat what you don’t want to see come true.” I remember being silent. It was only years later that those words came back to me and it has been something that impacted my life.

My mother knew little or nothing about mindset, at that time the resources and studies that we have now did not exist. But she knew about mother’s love, she knew something that by telling me changed my perspective on many things in my life from then on.
