Conversations with Tanisha Crisp

Today we’d like to introduce you to Tanisha Crisp.

Hi Tanisha, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
My name is Tanisha Crisp; I am the founder of BLM 5K. We are a walk/run that honors the black community and celebrates the black community. We support black businesses at our events, partner with black non-profits or non-profits fighting racial injustice. We were founded in Jacksonville, Florida, in August 2020. We are not affiliated with the original Black Lives Matter organization.

I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey have been a fairly smooth road?
It has not been a smooth road. Every day, I deal with the challenges of people either threatening me or BLM 5K, accusing us of being a fraud entity or individual racially discriminating against BLM 5K. Many individuals don’t realize that BLM 5K deserves a walk/run. The black community has been through so much trauma, slavery, racial discrimination, and police brutality.

Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
Not only am I the founder of BLM 5K, but I am also the founder of Eventful Journeys, and I am an active-duty officer in the Army.

What matters most to you?
Helping the community matters most to me. I grew up poor, and I was also a victim of sexual abuse as a child. Giving back to the community suffering from poverty, racial discrimination, sexual harassment, and sexual assault mean everything to me.

Pricing:
