Conversations with the Inspiring Andrea Mavares

Today we’d like to introduce you to Andrea Mavares.

Andrea Mavares (Dre Mav) was born in the Magic City – Miami on June 4th, 1984. Since a very young age, she was mesmerized by the entertainment industry. Coming from a very musically inclined family on both her mother and father’s side, she was naturally drawn to music and the arts. During her school years, Andrea recorded her own music at local recording studios and was a part of the chorus through which she was given many soloist positions. Andrea participated in school talent shows and other productions that allowed her to obtain awards & share her talents with the world. At the age of 12, she joined Just Dance It Dance Studios under the direction of Alina Lanza. Andrea quickly became one of the stars of the Advanced Competition Team and alongside her teammates won many awards.

When Andrea was 15, she began working for a banquet hall as the resident Master of Ceremony, Choreographer and “press & play” DJ. Andrea has provided Event Planning and Master of Ceremony services for all types of events in the South Florida area for over 15 years now, and completed the Event Planner course with TRENDIMI. Andrea graduated from Miami Media School in 2017 in Radio, Broadcasting, and Media. She has three internet radio shows (Our House, GirlTLKRadio & 305Radio) on Miami Underground Radio, providing a platform for all types of people to display their talents, promote events, assist in charity/volunteer work, and much more. Andrea is now also a crew member of Day By Day Lifestyles Ent., Inc. & continues to collaborate with artists in photography, documentaries, songwriting, performance, production, and recording of music and other types of productions. She is the PM and a Voice Over/Dubbing Talent at VOA Studios Miami, being hands-on with international projects from prestigious clients such as Netflix. Most recent accomplishment – became a contributor to 305 Magazine. Her entertainment career is evolving rapidly and she is establishing her permanent place within the industry.

Has it been a smooth road?
It has not been a smooth road. Some of the struggles I faced along the way included but were not limited to finding support from family & loved ones, obtaining opportunities I needed to prove my skills, and finding the strength within myself to overcome my own doubts & finally go after my dreams (regardless of what anyone else thought). My advice for other women, particularly young women who are just starting their journey is to believe in & love yourself above all things. Set your standards high. And, do all things with love. Once you do that, I think everything else falls into place.

So let’s switch gears a bit and go into Dre Mav Productions story. Tell us more about it.
I am a Project Manager at VOA Voice Studios for my day job. I am the Director of my own company that is currently being established, Dre Mav Productions, which provides professional event and media services for all types of productions. I am a Producer and Radio Personality at Miami Underground Radio, Contributor to 305 Magazine and Creative Director for Day By Day Lifestyles Ent Inc. What I am most proud of is the trust I have gained from clients, colleagues, and everyone in the community. I believe that my work ethic, honesty, and approach sets me apart from others. It makes me happy when people ask for my service, help or even just advice because it demonstrates that my work is important and valued.

Do you have a lesson or advice you’d like to share with young women just starting out?
The most important piece of advice to any young woman starting her career is to educate herself, set goals, and to pursue her dreams fiercely & unapologetically.
