Today we’d like to introduce you to Nadege Delcin-Garcon.
Hi Nadege, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
I have been in the medical field since 2001. I have worked in many different settings, from hospital, nursing homes, Acute rehab hospitals. I have worked up the ladder from being a patient care technician to a nursing supervisor, but I wanted more out of my nursing career. I decided to go back to school to become a nurse practitioner and have my own practice and work for myself. When I finished nurse practitioner school, I worked in various settings from home visits, aesthetic to primary care. I changed my mind about having my own practice simply because I became more aware of the responsibilities that come with owning a business. I thought I will get a great full-time job with benefits and have not to worry about being a business owner. Unfortunately, that dream job never came along until I realized that I would have to create my own dream job. Here I am a year and three months later owning my own business following my passion, controlling my destiny and creating opportunities for others. One of the best decisions I have ever made in my life.
I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey have been a fairly smooth road?
It has not been smoothed all the way. I was faced with a few challenges. The grand opening of Delcin Health center was supposed to be at the beginning of the year 2020 then, covid-19 hit. That was the first setback. I did not open my door until August. Not only I was facing challenges as a new business owner because no one wanted to go to the doctor’s office afraid of catching the virus. And of course, as a provider there was the fear of not catching Covid neither while providing care to clients or patients. Lastly, the financial stress. Unfortunately, despite fewer (if any) clients coming through the doors, I still have overhead expenses that needed to be covered.

The most important lessons I have learned along the journey is to have faith and to cultivate resilience.
