Today we’d like to introduce you to Neverless.
Neverless is an Alternative/Ska/Punk band from Sarasota, Florida formed in March of 2018 by T. J. Collins, Joe Morningstar, and Cory Collins. The concept for the band was derived from the creative process of T. J. Collins, which incorporated a horn section into the alternative rock songs that he had been holding on to until he had found the right bandmates to team up with.
In March of 2018, Collins approached his younger brother, Cory, and former bandmate, Joe Morningstar, to take on the roles of Saxophonist and Drummer. Cory was eager to join the project and had known that the day would come eventually. Morningstar, however, had not seen this coming due to his departure from Collins’s previous band, Summer Survivors, which had initially brought the two together. By that point, Collins and Morningstar had played together long enough to know that they had an undeniable connection through their musicianship, and decided to take their creativity to the next level. The addition of Ryker Kugler (bass), Nick Sabattini (guitar), and Devin Johnson (Trumpet) completed the bands line up, and allowed the group to reach their fullest musical potential.
Since then, Neverless has been honing in on their slightly eccentric sound and perfecting a captivating live performance for the world to see. They are currently recording a seven-song EP with Engineer/Producer, Michael “Mo” Lapierre, which is expected to be released in the Spring of 2019!
We’d love to hear more about your art. What do you do? Why? And what do you hope others will take away from your work?
At the surface, Neverless is simply a rock band with a new take on things. We’re here first and foremost to make music that we not only feel passionate about but would also like to share with the world. At the same time, however, Neverless is more than just a band to those of us involved. In a deeper sense, it’s a dream, a goal, a mentality, if you will. Neverless represents the idea that one should never give up on something they care about; whether it be music, art, writing, sport, acting, film, activism, or anything else for that matter. We ourselves live off of inspiration, so we’d like to use it as fuel to continue inspiring others. To put it simply: You’ll never be less than you are now.
Have things improved for artists? What should cities do to empower artists?
It’s hard to take one side or another. It’s a trade-off, really. The entertainment industry is an ever-changing place, and technology has made it incredibly easy for artists to get their work out there; but as a result, there’s so much available that it’s incredibly difficult to create something capable of sticking out amongst such a mass of content. We think people can support their local talent most efficiently by working together to build a community around it. For example, a music scene only grows if musicians and fans alike both do their part. When local bands network together, and then new fans go on to tell their friends about a good act, the result is an expanding community of people who share a common passion. That’s a beautiful thing in itself. Thriving success is just a bonus at that point.
Do you have any events or exhibitions coming up? Where would one go to see more of your work? How can people support you and your artwork?
We’ve got some demos you can check out on Reverbnation and Soundcloud right now, but we’ve got a 7-song EP dropping this spring that will be up on all major streaming platforms, and also available for purchase! We’re still a very new band. With that being said, the best way to support our work at this time is to stay posted on what we’re up to. Like our page on Facebook, give us a follow on Instagram, and most importantly, try making it out to a show if possible!
