Check out Leeana Sanchez’s Artwork

Today we’d like to introduce you to Leeana Sanchez .

Leeana, we’d love to hear your story and how you got to where you are today both personally and as an artist.
When I was 10, I was gifted my first camera by my then photographer aunt, and I became obsessed. Honestly, I have never stopped taking pictures since then. Through the years, this same aunt always fostered my love for photography. She gifted me my first DSLR too! At one point in my 20’s, I started taking friends maternity pics and newborn pics and that even led to a few paying clients. I never pursued it, because back then I thought that doing it every day would make me stop loving it. It wouldn’t be “fun” anymore. Silly things you think in your 20’s. I know better now; love what you do, and you’ll never work a day in your life.
I had people tell me for years I should do this professionally. When I looked back at my life, I realized the only thing I was passionate about at age 10, is the only thing I’m still passionate about now… photography.

We’d love to hear more about your art. What do you do and why and what do you hope others will take away from your work?
I have such an important job as a photographer. I am documenting a person’s emotions and legacy. Capturing memories that will live on in my images for generations to come. It’s an honor and a job that I take seriously. I love that I get to be a historian of people’s lives. Life moves way too quickly, and I know that the only way to relive memories are with photographs. I put my heart into my work and strive to capture authentic moments. I love to capture real emotion and love, and genuinely become friends with every client that allows me into the most intimate and sacred moments of their lives.

Have things improved for artists? What should cities do to empower artists?
I think Miami has grown immensely in support of artists the past few years… even decade. Social media has also contributed to this because there’s an opportunity for artists to showcase their work and reach a large audience. I appreciate Voyage encouraging artists and showcasing them too. We need more of people like you guys in Miami.

Do you have any events or exhibitions coming up? Where would one go to see more of your work? How can people support you and your artwork?
The best place to see my work is my Instagram: @Leeana_PS.
Of course, booking a session with me is an amazing way to show support but not the only way! Referring me to friends and family, engaging on my posts on social media… all ways to show support!
