Check out Drew Ramirez and Susie Ramirez’s Artwork

Today we’d like to introduce you to Drew Ramirez and Susie Ramirez.

Drew and Susie , we’d love to hear your story and how you got to where you are today both personally and as an artist.
We are a husband and wife team who started to jam together on nights while I was practicing guitar, After a few months of these “jamming” sessions (and A LOT of coaxing from family, myself and friends), Susie finally felt comfortable with the idea of getting back on stage after several years and, we decided that it would be a good idea to start our own band. We figured that we had enough combined experience in several areas besides the musical aspect of putting a band together and took it from there…then, Exit Left was born. The management and booking aspects of the band are handled by me while Susie takes care of the legal stuff, maintaining our website and creating flyers for the band events/upcoming shows. In the end, it’s really a team effort with the goal of making for an incredibly fun and entertaining show.

We’d love to hear more about your art. What do you do you do and why and what do you hope others will take away from your work?
We created what we feel is a unique rock/party cover band that delivers songs from throughout the decades as closely as possible to the original tunes without the use any enhancements such as playbacks and backing tracks. All of our sets are 100% live! Another thing that makes Exit Left unique is our set-lists themselves. We take occasional polls and request feedback from our friends, fans and Exit Left family and put our set-lists together based on several of their suggestions as well as songs that we like to perform as well. It’s a win-win situation. Additionally, we also have the capability to change the dynamics of our sets as we have 3 backing vocalists that also take the lead on vocals from time to time in between sets.

Have things improved for artists? What should cities do to empower artists?
We think that conditions for artists in our community has improved significantly, especially in light of the fact that South Florida is a melting pot. The combination of so many different cultures both musically and artistically make for very good conditions for artists. Cities like ours can encourage and help art and artists survive by implementing more arts education policies and programs, urge local boards of education to adopt arts and
music programs in school, make personal commitments to advocate for the arts at the local, state, and national levels and by supporting local venues that promote the arts, live music and artists.

Do you have any events or exhibitions coming up? Where would one go to see more of your work? How can people support you and your artwork?
Exit Left performs at venues throughout South Florida. We play in the tri-county area, Miami-Dade County, Broward, Palm Beach and occasionally in Monroe County as well. Some of the venues where you can find Exit Left are (in no particular order): Sunset Tavern, South Miami; Jada Coles, Miami; Bougainvillea’s “Bougie’s”, South Miami; Pub 935, Florida City, Whiskey Tango, Hollywood; Cheers Rock Bar both locations, i.e. Sunrise and Ft. Lauderdale; Jimmy Johnson’s Big Chill, Key Largo, etc.
