Art & Life with P.R.A.T.O. – Pure Riddim Attack Taking Over

Today we’d like to introduce you to PRATO Pure Riddim Attack Taking Over.

P.R.A.T.O. was founded by Lebaroots (bass/vocals) and Alexandre Stry (guitar/vocals), two friends that came from Rio de Janeiro and decided to get together to play music. The band then became very known in South Florida being part of the Latin alternative movement in the early 2000s. In 2018 ChinaRootz joined the band on the Drums.

The band released their first CD under the label Fabrika/Sony-BMG Latin in 2005. The hit “Inmigracion” reached Top 10 for many weeks playing on the radio in the US and Latin America. The band played in various respected venues, like the famous Viper Room in Los Angeles, Billboard Live and international festivals along with bands such as: Paralamas do Sucesso, Natiruts, Bacilos, Rabanes, Los Piojos, Izabella Rocha (the Reggae Queen of Brazil), among others.

P.R.A.T.O., which is the acronym for Pure Riddim Attack Taking Over, has their own style, with a fun upbeat vibe and cool lyrics mixing a heavy tone of Reggae and Rock with a Brazilian/Latin touch. It has influences from classic Rudeboy/Rocksteady all the way to the 90’s Reggae/Ska/Punk/Hip Hop movements.

Can you give our readers some background on your art?
Music has been in our families for generations; it’s what moves our existence and how ideas manifest into movement, specifically reggae and rock. The idea of something that can be rebellious and at the same time conscious, with a slow beat and at the same time gets you high and excited fascinates us. PRATO uses that to make people have fun, to make everyone unite and feel positive with fun lyrics and good vibes.

How do you think about success, as an artist, and what do quality do you feel is most helpful?
Success is when someone is able to combine freedom and passion. That depends on working hard, smart, be in the right place at the right time and consistency. It’s essential to provide a product that’s unique, that evolves as it gets bigger and brings something new every time.
